Why Choose SOBA
Why Peoria Residents Choose IOP With Us
For a lot of Peoria households run on school pickups and two paychecks, the obstacle to residential care isn't motivation, it's logistics: who gets the kids, who covers the mortgage during 30 days away. IOP is roughly 9–15 hours a week of group and individual therapy, real clinical intensity that doesn't pull anyone out of their household. Flexible scheduling keeps the income and the routine intact while the clinical work happens.
Clinical Note
IOP fits people who need real clinical treatment but can't step away from work or family for 30 days. Staying enrolled or employed while getting structured care is the whole point of this level.

The Program
What Intensive Outpatient Looks Like
IOP usually runs three to five sessions a week, with evening scheduling so treatment fits around work, school, or family. A co-occurring anxiety, depression, or trauma diagnosis is treated in the same program rather than referred out.
Physician-Led Clinical Care
Reyes Topete, MD, our medical director, oversees every level of care at SOBA. One family-owned clinical team has run the whole continuum since 2007, detox through aftercare, with no handoffs between separate providers.
The Distance Is the Point
The drive to Mesa isn't a detour from recovery; it's part of it. Real distance from the people, places, and routines tied to active use in Peoria is often what makes the early weeks hold, which is why our campus sits somewhere calm and private, with admissions open 24/7.
Getting Here
Getting to Intensive Outpatient from Peoria
The 45–55 minute drive to Mesa, closer to 60 from north Peoria/Vistancia 85383, is the honest tradeoff here, and it buys real clinical work while you stay anchored at home. Clients who find 3–5 trips a week hard to sustain can ask admissions about a block schedule: longer sessions on fewer days, same clinical hours, fewer drives. On the days nobody's heading to Mesa, there's a standing AA meeting at First Baptist (8133 W Cactus Rd).
